Growing up in the landscaping world, Mike Pungitore always knew he wanted to work with his hands. From a young age, he spent summers learning the trade alongside his father, Sergio, at Pungitore Landscaping. After earning a business degree from the University of New Hampshire and stepping into a corporate role in finance, Mike realized his true calling was still out in the field—working with the soil, not spreadsheets.
Recognizing an opportunity to specialize in the essential elements that would create a niche offering, Mike earned his pesticide license and began fertilizing lawns on evenings and weekends. At the same time, he dove deep into the world of irrigation. Three years later, he traded in the suit and tie to launch Pungitore Irrigation & Fertilizer (PIF).
Today, Pungitore Landscaping and PIF have come together under one name—Pungitore—offering a unified, full-service solution for all your landscaping and outdoor living needs. From the roots to the finishing touches, we’re here to bring your outdoor vision to life.

Founding Roots: Sergio Pungitore’s Legacy
Pungitore Landscaping was founded in the 1980s by Sergio Pungitore, an Italian immigrant who arrived in the United States at just 18 years old. With limited on money and English language skills, Sergio persisted to exemplify the spirit of resilience and hard work. Through grit, dedication, and a relentless pursuit of quality, he built Pungitore Landscaping from the ground up—earning the trust of South Shore homeowners and businesses over several decades.
In 2014, Sergio’s son Michael Pungitore—raised with the same work ethic —launched Pungitore Irrigation & Fertilizer, a specialized business designed to complement existing landscaping services.
As Sergio steps into retirement, he passes the torch to Mike, who now oversees Pungitore Landscaping, currently transforming into Pungitore Landscape Services under his ownership. This evolution marks not only a rebrand but also a strategic vision for the future.
Today, Pungitore, Inc. serves as the umbrella organization that unites both Pungitore Landscape Services and Pungitore Irrigation & Fertilizer. While each branch retains its own name and offerings, the company now operates as a unified entity—streamlining services, culture, and vision across teams and customers. This dual-brand structure allows for specialization while fostering collaboration and efficiency across the entire South Shore community.
